HIRE TO STEAL SCAM

Please be aware of an ongoing ‘hire to steal’ scam affecting the Midlands UPTO SCOTLAND.

We have been passed the following information from John Mussett, Director of Investigations at CanTrack Global.

A ‘hire to steal’ scammer is currently active from the Midlands up to Scotland. He goes by the name of Gavin Read who hires under the company name of GAV Plant, based in Warrington.

We urge all of our customers not to deal with this man/company.

Numerous Police forces in the north of England are investigating him for fraudulent hires of hundreds of thousands of pounds of machines. He hires anything from 30-ton excavators to 1-ton dumpers then moves them around the country and sells them on to unsuspecting buyers.

If you are contacted by Gavin Read, please gather as much information as you can and ring me on 01908 330 385 (option 1) where we can pass the information onto the relevant Police Officers.
