CITB - Construction Industry Training Board
CITB is the industry training board for the construction sector in Scotland. Their role is to help the construction industry attract talent and to support skills development. CITB are an executive non-departmental public body in charge of its own budget and activities. Sponsored by the Department for Education, CITB are also accountable to government ministers, and ultimately Parliament.
SPOA collaboration with CITB has never been better, during 2021 SPOA President Callum Mackintosh and Vice President John Sibbald visited the National Construction Colleges at Bircham Newton by Kings Lynn and Inchinnan by Glasgow to further understand how CITB is delivering Plant Mechanic and Operator apprenticeships via the NCC's.
Ongoing discussions are being had around how the SPOA and CITB can improve the offering and shape it for the future.
PSRO - Plant Sector Representative Organisation
The SPOA supports all Members and the wider industry on training matters and has been instrumental in the founding of the Plant Sector Representative Organisation (PSRO).
CPCS Management Committee
The CPCS Management Committee is made up from representatives of the industry that use the plant and equipment covered by the Scheme. It's role is to develop Strategy and Policy.
The Scottish Plant Owners Association maintains an active position on the CPCS Management Committee and has recently gained an "in attendance position" to support our Committee position..
From time to time the SPOA offers industry relevant training courses, most recently The Scottish Plant Owners Association partnered with the CITB to offer training on business growth and development.
