Meet Robin Bryant

In the second of our series about the newly elected members of the Executive Committee, we meet Robin Bryant.

Robin Bryant is Joint Managing Director of SCOT JCB in Glasgow and an Industry Supplier Member (ISM). He will assist the President to get the new ISM subcommittee off the ground. He will promote manufacturer and dealer members of SPOA and encourage ISMs to consider SPOA as a sounding board to discuss innovations. Robin will seek to build SPOA’s reputation as a thought leader in future equipment.

We asked Robin some quick-fire questions.

  •  How long have you been in the industry?

18 years – I worked at JCB for two years before making the move back up north. Then I worked on the parts and service side of the business. I became Joint Managing Director at SCOT JCB five years ago.

  • How long have you been a member of SPOA?

SPS/Scot JCB has been a proud member of SPOA since the very beginning.

  • What do you believe are the biggest challenges for the industry?

For sure it is the increasing costs across the board as well as the long lead times for machinery.

  • What do you believe are the biggest opportunities for the industry?

I think we need to take advantage of new green technology as the world moves towards decarbonisation. I also see an opportunity in providing value added service that’s based on quality and not just price driven.

  • Now that you have been appointed to the Committee, what do you hope to achieve?

I will be able to provide perspective from manufacturers and dealers when it comes to new developments and changes in technology. I am really looking forward to working with and getting to know my colleagues on the Executive Committee better.
