SPOA Clay Shooting Competition 2025

Alan Rose, SPOA committee member and director of WM Rose, organised this year’s SPOA Clay Shooting Competition, now a firm favourite in the SPOA calendar, combining networking and a good helping of friendly sporting competition.

Alan shares his reflections on the day:

Taking place on Friday 14th November at Cluny Activities in Kirkcaldy, the weather was kind to us. The team at Cluny Activities was a joy to work with and made the day run smoothly and safely. SPOA members were treated to a fabulous venue, great instructors and amazing food and drink.

This event would not have been possible without the support of our generous sponsor, Spartan Solutions Ltd, one of our Industry Supplier Members. Spartan went all out with branding about PHALANX - powerful software used by trusted rental companies to remove errors, delays and costs from their operations. The Spartan team also generously gave every attendee an umbrella and a pen, though thankfully, the umbrellas were not required!

We were delighted that Spartan Solutions’ CEO Jim Green, along with COO John Glen and Executive Assistant Wendy Burns were able to join in the competition, have fun and be part of the prizegiving.

“The event was great and the SPOA's choice of Cluny definitely 'hit the bullseye',” commented Jim Green.

With 49 attendees of very varying ability and shooting experiences, the Cluny Activities team promised everyone would leave the day having hit something!

The day started with a 40-bird sporting session followed by refreshments and networking in the clubhouse with another 40-bird sporting session before the lunch break.

Lunch was a hearty two course hot buffet which warmed everyone up ready for the afternoon session. The highlight of the day for most teams was the team 30-bird flush competition. The Cluny Activities team was spot on, and everyone ended the day having hit at least one clay!
