Hosted by Executive Committee member James Currie, SPOA members from Deeside Road Construction, BSpoke Solutions, ANM Group, PortRail Group and Sibbald Training were among those who attended.
The visit included a guided tour of the auction yard including the workshops, paint shops, cleaning areas and sales rings. The process was explained and there was an opportunity to ask questions on the registration and bidding process for an auction as well as an informative session on debunking auction myths. Following lunch, members were given free rein to explore the auction yards.

Some of the lots for sale at Euro Auctions
Commenting on the visit, John Sibbald from Sibbald Training said: “My first visit to a live auction day at Euro Auctions was a hugely impressive experience. The team made us feel very welcome and gave us a valuable insight into the auction process and customer experience.
“The sheer volume and variety of assets on offer is remarkable; there really is something to interest everyone. The energy and excitement when the auctions get underway is exhilarating, and I would thoroughly recommend experiencing a live auction day for yourself.”

Diggers as far as the eye can see!
The trip was organised to inform members about the auction process and to address concerns about consigning to an unreserved sale. Members witnessed the effort that goes into getting the maximum value from every consignment.
Representing Euro Auctions and guiding the SPOA delegation for the day was Chris Rankin who hailed the visit a success, saying: “Euro Auctions and I would like to thank the Scottish Plant Owners Association (SPOA) and its members for joining us at our September sale in Leeds. A special thank you to James Currie for organising.
“It was a pleasure to welcome the group and give members the opportunity to experience a live auction first-hand, meet the team and see the range of equipment on offer.
“This auction had just over 8,000 lots, generating nearly £50,000,000 over four days. We were particularly delighted that six visiting members purchased equipment during the sale. Thank you to everyone who attended for your support, and we look forward to welcoming you back to future auctions.”

No dearth of dumpers at Euro Auctions!
Sharing his thoughts about the trip, James Currie concluded: “It was great to be back at Euro Auctions seeing the current market for plant sales and the general feeling for construction machinery for sale in the UK.
“It was also great to take members on a tour of the site and see the work that goes on behind the scenes and the services that Euro Auctions can provide from repairs to paintwork, washing and worldwide shipping.
“A great day was had by all, and the hospitality and lunch were well received. Big thanks to Chris Rankin for hosting us yet again and pulling out the stops on what was a was busy auction day to accommodate our party from the SPOA.”
